Installing

Just tried to install Gamemaker on our RM network. The program runs, but when you try to view the game a graphics card error message comes up (we’ve checked our machines and they have all the necessary requirements). Has anyone else come across a similar problem? and more importantly have they solved it?

Mark, the only time I have seen a graphics card error is when I have tried to run GameMaker games under parallels on my mac. I was led to believe that it was due to the graphics emulator not being good enough. Apart from that I have not come across the issue on a windows based machine, have you left a help request on the YoYo Games website: https://yoyogames.mojohelpdesk.com/req/
Hmmmm…. was that version 6 of gamemaker???? I didn’t even get that far with my attempt.
I installed Gamemaker 7 as a package (and it works OK if you are logged on as an administrator user)
However, if a normal user logs on you get 3 errormessages about SOFTWRAP.
Softwrap is a DRM product that yoyogames have added to Gamemaker as of version 7 to handle the purchasing of the pro edition. Unfortunately, it has caused problems for lots of users & yoyo don’t seem to have found an acceptable solution.
Meanwhile, I’m going to try Gamemaker 6 to see if it installs without the issues of GM7.
Just to let you know we have spent some time investigating this issue and we are closing in on the issue. We have tried installation on a number of machines which have had mixed results, even on computers which are using identical hardware. We rebuilt a workstation where a previous attempt to run Gamemaker 6 had failed due to the “graphics” hardware error and unsurprisingly it worked fine. We are currently reloading packages on to the workstation to determine which package is causing the problem. Tutor 3 has been installed, along with Dreamweaver, Office 2000 and assorted other RM station tools. We will post a list of the packages installed an any which cause the Gamemaker 6 package to generate the error when test have been concluded this week.
